History of Intertek

The Intertek story begins at the dawn of the contemporary testing sector. Almost 130 years ago, various innovative businesses formed Intertek, which has a long and illustrative history.

From 1880 to 1900, various well-known individuals, Mr. Caleb Brett, Mr. Milton Hersey, and Mr. Thomas Edison, conducted excellent research on ships’ cargoes, independent testing laboratories, and the origin of the world’s electric light industry.

Between 1900 and 1940, the S-Mark is registered by SEMKO(Swedish testing organization for the safety of electrical and electronic products). To seek verification of steel products, Mr. Chas Warnock founds the Chas Warnock Company in Montreal, Canada.

1940 through the year 2000, Milton Hersey and Chas Warnock amalgamated their enterprises to establish “Warnock Hersey.” To suit the internal requirements of the Dodwell companies, a sizable multinational firm that Raymond Kong, Alfred Yung, and Thomas Chan had just acquired through Inchcape, the diverse international group at the time developed “Labtest” Hong Kong and included electronics, minerals, petrochemicals, textiles, and petroleum.

From 2000 to the present, Intertek became Intertek Group plc. When it was listed on the London Stock,20-year CEO Richard Nelson stepped down, and CEO was appointed As Dr. Wolfhart Hauser.
