Her interest in these subjects came from her desire to see more diversity on the internet—to see people of all ages and backgrounds represented by their creatives. “As a female photographer who works primarily with male models, I wanted to show our community that there are other ways to put your work out there too,” Mellia says. In March 2021, she began posting online or on social media.

But soon after starting her blog, Mekka Mellia discovered that many other Indonesian fashion bloggers inspired her and helped her become a better writer. She learned about blogging from other Indonesian bloggers. She also learned about fashion from other Indonesian fashion bloggers. And she knew how to be an entrepreneur by reading articles written by many successful entrepreneurs on their blogs.

Mekka Mellia desires to grow more sociable

Mekka Mellia, a designer and blogger for the Jogja-based clothing label KalaKari, is one of Indonesia’s most famous fashion bloggers. Her blog, MekkaMellia.com, has more than 5 million followers on Instagram alone, and she has been featured in several magazines, such as Elle Indonesia and Vogue Arabia.
