Overview of the UEFA Europa League schedule

UEFA, or the Union of European Football Associations, coordinates the UEFA Champions League, an annual club football competition played by top-tier European clubs. The competition is abbreviated as UCL or occasionally as UEFA CL. It determines the winners through a round-robin group stage to qualify for a double-leg knockout format and a single-leg final.

The national league champions (and, for certain nations, one or more runners-up) of their national associations compete in one of the most famous football competitions in the world and the most prestigious club competition in European football.

The current setup of the Europa League

The Champions League’s current structure sees preliminary, qualifying, and play-off rounds split into two legs beginning in late June. The six remaining teams join the 26 already qualified for the group stage. In eight groups of four, the 32 teams are divided, competing against one another twice in round-robin fashion. The final match, which takes place in late May or early June, is decided by the eight group winners and runners-up, moving on to the knockout round. The Champions League champion is eligible for the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and the Champions League the following year.
